Change the Beat Brings Its Global Artist Development Mission to London With Major fabric Debut
Change the Beat, the global non-profit dedicated to creating greater access and opportunity for women and gender-expansive artists in electronic music, is taking its next major step with a 12-hour industry and club experience at fabric London on October 15.
Bringing together 40+ artists, executives, labels, agencies, promoters and music organisations, the event is designed around a simple but increasingly important idea: talent needs more than exposure. Artists need access to the people, knowledge and opportunities that can help turn potential into sustainable careers.
Running from 3PM to 3AM, Change the Beat’s London debut will combine industry education, networking, an exhibition celebrating women in electronic music and a late-night club programme featuring some of the scene’s leading artists.
Building Access, Not Just Awareness
The daytime programme, hosted by Sunita Dhaliwal of The Everyday Agency, will tackle three critical stages of an electronic artist’s career.
The first, How to Get Booked as a DJ in London, brings together Broadwick Live, Not Bad For A Girl, Junction 2 / LWE and HE.SHE.THEY.
The second, How to Get Signed to an A-List Dance Label, features representatives from Southern Fried / Knee Deep In Sound, Hospital Records, Toolroom and Anjunadeep.
The third, How to Get Representation: Managers & Agents, explores the increasingly important relationship between artists and the teams responsible for developing their careers, with professionals from Night Department, CAA, The Team and Frame Artists.
Moderated by figures including Katie Knight, Sydney Blu and Finlay Johnson, the conversations are designed to offer practical insight rather than industry theory — covering everything from bookings and A&R to management, labels and agency representation.
For emerging artists, that direct access can be difficult to find. Change the Beat’s approach is to put those conversations in the same room as the people actively making decisions.
“Bringing Change the Beat to fabric is a huge moment for us,” says Sydney Blu, Founder of Change the Beat. “We’ve built this event around what we believe artists genuinely need — access to the people shaping the industry, honest conversations about how it works, and real opportunities to build relationships.”
Celebrating the Women Who Built Electronic Music
The event will also look beyond the future to recognise the artists who helped shape the culture in the first place.
From 7PM to 10PM, the Change the Beat industry mixer will take place in partnership with AFEM, Pete Tong DJ Academy, Not Bad For A Girl and Beatport, connecting emerging artists with professionals from across the global dance music ecosystem.
A live performance element will give selected emerging DJs from Not Bad For A Girl and Pete Tong DJ Academy the opportunity to perform alongside N1NJA.
At the same time, fabric will host the Women Who Shaped Electronic Music photography exhibition, featuring 18 influential artists including ANNA, Annie Mac, Crystal Waters, DJ Minx, DJ Paulette, DJ Rap, Eli & Fur, Honey Dijon, Ida Engberg, Lottie, Lisa Lashes, Maya Jane Coles, Nicole Moudaber, Sam Divine, Sister Bliss, Smokin Jo, Superjane and Ultra Naté.
The exhibition places today’s conversations about representation within a much larger history — one built by artists who repeatedly expanded the possibilities of electronic music.
A Club Night With a Purpose
The final stage of the programme begins at 10PM, when fabric’s Main Room becomes the setting for performances from TSHA, Kitty Amor, Sydney Blu, Emily Nash and N1NJA.
But the club night carries a purpose beyond the dancefloor.
Proceeds will directly support Change the Beat’s international artist development programme, which provides education, mentorship and opportunities for women and gender-expansive artists around the world.
The organisation has also established an ambitious goal: supporting 300 artists in securing label opportunities by 2028.
The London debut therefore represents more than a new event on the electronic music calendar. It is another step in Change the Beat’s effort to build a genuinely international network connecting artists with labels, managers, agencies, promoters and industry leaders.
As electronic music continues to become increasingly global, initiatives that create meaningful access — rather than simply visibility — could prove crucial to determining who gets the opportunity to build the next generation of the scene.
